MUSTANG RECALL 02-27-08:
Ford Motor Co. says it is recalling 470,000 Ford Mustangs from the 2005-2008 model years to recalibrate how forcefully the air bag deploys on the front passenger side of the car. Ford spokesman Wesley Sherwood says internal testing showed the air bag could injure a small, unbelted passenger. The recall was posted Wednesday on the website of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Sherwood says there were no reports of injuries or accidents tied to the recall. The Dearborn automaker will notify customers by mail in early March. Owners can take their vehicle to a dealer to have the air bag re-calibrated to deploy at a lower force. 2005-2008 Mustang owners can go to the Ford Service Website and enter their VIN number to see if their car is affected by this recall.

Mustangs... Back at Barber!
The latest hot and heavy rumor around is that the Mustang 45th Anniversary, sponsored by FORD, and supported by the Mustang Club of America, will be at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama, just outside Birmingham, Alabama. Event dates are confirmed as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday April 17, 18, and 19, 2009. These days and dates coincide perfectly with the original introduction of the Mustang in 1964. The car was first unveiled (to the general public) on Friday afternoon/evening, April 17th, 1964. On Saturday, April 18th, 1964 pretty much every attendee at the New York World's Fair saw and fell head over heels for the Mustang. And, to top off the week-end, the Mustang was introduced to the rest of the world on the three (3) major television networks. Did you all catch the "three major networks" part. Boy, how times have changed. Thank goodness we still have our Mustangs! And, if you feel a little tingle as you read this, that excitement from 1964 is still with us today. Start making plans to make you way to the Mustang's 45th birthday celebration. You might even stop by a FORD dealership and thank them for the continuation of the Mustang. Oh, and watch here for more information!

30 Years of Archived Issues of Mustang Times Now Available online
Randy Jacobson, MCA National Board of Director and MCA Historian, has been working to provide an online archive of Mustang Times issues to MCA members and non-members alike. Due to the large volume of back issues, the copies will be posted in bundles of 10. Volumes 1-10, covering 1977-1986, Volumes 11-20, covering 1987-1996, and Volumes 21-30, covering 1997-2006 are now available. MCA policy precludes access to Mustang Times issues less than 12 months old. Each bundle has three versions of a searchable database index: articles only, ads only, ads and articles combined. Information on how to access the databases and the scanned files can be found on the home page: http://mustangtimes.net.
Only four issues of the first year of Mustang Times have yet to be found and Randy is continually searching. As he locates them, he will make them available online. Randy can also recover MCA member numbers from 1979 through 1983 for those members who have had their membership lapse since then. He can be contacted at historian@mustangtimes.net
